City Wide Food Drive 2025

May 1, 2025 | events, feature, Story

HUGE SUCCESS and turnout for the 5th Annual City Wide Food Drive. Spearheaded by Mothus Financial & Wood Wheaton, this year’s event brought in much needed cash, gift cards and food donations. Every year, the citizens of Prince George rally around The Salvation Army to support the Food Bank and the 4500 people we serve monthly. The event seems to grow and expand in partnerships and the result is fun, excitement and a general feel good attitude!

All 4 Save On Foods offered up space out front of their stores for the Volunteers to set up tables and trucks to receive the donations. This year, we saw Spirit of the North leading the Hart location, recruiting JDC students from UNBC to support the cause. At Spruceland, for the 5th year running, Scouten Engineering and Little Fit Company came out, sporting their “City Wide Food Drive” t-shirts! They were joined by 99.3 Rewind Radio who provided live on location ads throughout the day. At Pine Centre, Wood Wheaton Honda, Wood Wheaton Superstore, 101.3 The River  & CKPG were out there toting their smiles! Up at the College Heights location, TELUS was handing out a small gift to everyone who donated. We even saw Mike Smith and his friend Moe come to play music and share the day with us. They serenaded our beloved mascot, Sally Ann, with their tribute “Brown Haired Girl”. Sally Ann’s eyes are black, so they improvised! Wood Wheaton also provided the trucks to hold the food, and Dave Mothus posted his posts all over social media!

There were prizes! Did we mention that? Thanks to generous donations from Save On Foods and Wood Wheaton, Donors were encouraged to enter the draw for Spruce Kings 50/50 tickets and Save On Foods gift cards!

THANK YOU PRINCE GEORGE! We love you 🙂
