Hastings has been with The Salvation Army Prince George for many years, coming to us as a teenage volunteer. She hid it well at first, but she was struggling with a secret addiction. As these things always do, the addiction didn’t stay hidden for long and soon enough, the leadership team noticed some behaviours that gave them pause. Being the compassionate team that we are, they gave Hastings a chance to come clean- pun intended! Seeing her potential, her Supervisor offered her an opportunity to change her life… and she took it! It was hard at first, and there were some bumps along the road, but Hastings shares that the road to sobriety is one worth travelling.
Hastings says, “I found support, a home and God in this place. I found my worth.” She gladly shares her story, hoping it may also encourage someone else. Hastings has been employed at The Salvation Army Prince George for 4 years, moving her way around a number of Thrift Store positions. She has settled into her role as Forklift Operator in the Recycling and Receiving department. She gives thanks to the Team who saw her potential and held her accountable!
We are so proud to have her as one of our own. Change is possible!
