For 17 years, Parker Optometry has partnered with The Salvation Army Prince George Kettle Campaign!
Charlene, a longtime employee at Parker Optometry, shares the early days of this initiative when Dr. Dale Dergousoff and his wife, Tracy, wanted to make a difference in our community. Up until then, they had been supporting one family at Christmas time and wanted to have a greater impact, so they contacted several local charities and chose The Salvation Army and our renowned Red Kettle.
Every year since 2008, Parker Optometry has hosted a kettle stand at their location and introduced the “20/20” promotional incentive. Each customer who donates $20 into their Red Kettle is eligible to receive 20% off a new pair of glasses* or 20% off 1 year of contacts.
Dr. Jennifer Wilczek, born and raised right here in Prince George, completed her optometry schooling down south and, true to her northern roots, came home to deepen those connections. In 2024, she purchased Parker Optometry from Dr. Dergousoff and was “happy to support and continue the tradition.” Dr. Wilczek shares that her favourite part of the Kettle season is the community’s generosity; “(it) is more impressive than one would think… combining Christmas Spirit and Community Spirit.”
Throughout the year, Parker Optometry gets asked if they will be running their 20/20 Christmas Fundraiser, which runs from Dec 1st to Dec 24th and they gladly say “YES!”
